Hi There! I’m Erin, or as I am called by my son (who I created this butter for) calls me,
“The Butter Mama”
I’m truly happy you’ve stopped by to check out my site!!
I’m not a big chain retailer, I didn’t create this for a business opportunity, I’m just a momma who wanted to find the best way to keep my African-American child’s skin and hair healthy, moisturized & nourished with something that will last all day!
It really all began when we brought home our little boy through the miracle of adoption from Uganda, Africa in 2011. In Uganda the climate is very humid, warm, and he didn’t need any type of lotion living in Uganda. When he arrived in the United States, within days of arriving I noticed our little boys skin becoming so dry that he was itchy all over, we put lotion all over him, and within 2 hours we were applying more lotion…and so on. I was tired of going through multiple lotions, and body butters that those big retailers try to sell you for $30+ a pop! Nothing was working good enough! I finally decided to stop wasting my money. I knew there just had to be something better out there. Then I did a lot of research, and I finally decided to try making some body butter on my own, I found out that organic and natural products that go directly into our skin are pretty much essential for daily usage, your skin is your body’s largest organ! I didn’t want chemicals soaking into his body as much as we were needing lotion on his skin several times daily. I knew I couldn’t make anything other than all natural and organic body butter. After much research, and finally perfecting it through many different recipes over the course of about 6 months, I finally created the perfect recipe for Butter Mama’s Organic Whipped Shea Body Butter.
I just began with the sole purpose of helping my son have healthy moisturized skin with a product that didn’t leave a sticky, greasy feeling behind, I never dreamed it would turn into what it has today! I had so many comments about my sons skin and hair (which I later discovered was perfect for African-American hair too that kept it shiny and moisturized all day as well) that I thought that I might have something other people might benefit from as well, I started advertising in my adoption group and it grew bigger and bigger from there. I now have over 12 different scents and are now debuting an organic whipped shea sugar scrub I created to help with skin exfoliation which even further helps skin be more healthy and moisturized. I feel very blessed to be able to create something that so many benefit from, and it all started by being called “The Butter Mama” by my sweet boy after wanting something for him that truly worked…can’t wait for you to try it!!
